Dazzling Color, A National Juried Exhibition
This month’s exhibition features forty-two artworks connected by a shared interest in bold palettes and visual energy. Together, the works create an engaging survey of contemporary artistic approaches, demonstrating how artists can transform simple ideas into compelling visual experiences through their use of hue, contrast, and composition.
While the theme provides a common thread, the artworks themselves vary widely in style, technique, and subject matter. Some pieces embrace abstraction and experimentation, while others draw inspiration from landscapes, figures, patterns, or everyday observations. This range of perspectives allows each work to contribute something unique to the larger conversation.
Viewed as a whole, the exhibition offers a lively and immersive experience that encourages close observation and discovery. The exhibit celebrates the many possibilities that emerge when artists embrace bold visual choices, inviting visitors to explore, reflect, and enjoy the richness of the works on display.
“Dazzling Colors,” a National Juried Exhibition, will be on display from June 5–28, 2026. Join us for the First Friday opening reception on June 5 from 5:00–9:00 p.m. as we celebrate the participating artists, the exhibition, and our vibrant local arts community.

America 250: The Faces that Framed a Nation
We are proud to contribute to the Fredericksburg DAR’s America 250 celebration with a patriotic installation honoring the figures who shaped our nation.
Now hanging in the front of the gallery through July, this focused exhibition features a cabinet portrait of George Washington by Charles Willson Peale, one of the most significant painters of the Revolutionary era. Alongside it is the only portrait in American history painted during Thomas Jefferson’s lifetime depicting him holding the Declaration of Independence — a remarkable image of authorship and nationhood.
Also included is a portrait of Washington by Jane Stuart, daughter of Gilbert Stuart, and a striking painted silhouette by Augustus Day, highlighting the refinement of early American portrait traditions.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of America, we invite you to step inside and reflect on the leadership and legacy that shaped this great nation.
